So, what is oleth?
Oleth is a versatile ingredient used in the formulation of many cosmetic and personal care products. It is derived from ethoxylated fatty alcohols, which are sourced from natural oils and fats. Oleth acts as an emulsifier and surfactant, helping to mix oil and water-based ingredients and promote a smooth, even application of products on the skin or hair. It also provides moisturizing benefits by forming a protective barrier that helps to prevent water loss. Additionally, oleth can enhance the solubility and stability of other ingredients, ensuring that the final product remains effective and safe for use.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
