So, what is pentaerythrityl tetrastearate and calcium stearate?
Pentaerythrityl tetrastearate and calcium stearate are food-grade additives commonly used as emulsifiers, thickeners, and stabilizers in a variety of processed foods, such as baked goods, confectionery, and dairy products. Pentaerythrityl tetrastearate, a waxy solid, improves texture and enhances the shelf life of food products. Calcium stearate, a white powder, functions as an anti-caking agent, preventing ingredients from clumping together. These additives are generally recognized as safe by the FDA and are widely used in the food industry to improve the overall quality and consistency of processed foods.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
