So, what is plàtan?
Plàtan is a versatile and delicious food ingredient that adds depth and flavor to many dishes. Also known as plantain, this starchy fruit is a common staple in Latin American and Caribbean cuisine. Its texture and taste are similar to that of a banana, but it is firmer and less sweet. Plàtan can be prepared in various ways: fried, boiled, mashed or baked. When cooked, its natural sugars caramelize, resulting in a crispy exterior and soft interior. It's a great source of dietary fiber, vitamins A and C, and potassium, making it an excellent addition to any healthy diet.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
