So, what is plátano macho?
Plátano Macho, also known as "cooking plantain," is a starchy fruit commonly found in Latin American cuisine. Unlike the sweet banana, plátano macho has a thicker skin and flesh that ranges from light green to yellow in color. It is typically used for savory dishes, such as tostones (twice-fried plantains), mofongo (mashed plantains with garlic and pork cracklings), or maduros (sweet ripe plantains). Plátano macho is a great source of potassium, fiber, and vitamins A and C, making it a healthy and delicious addition to any meal.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
