So, what is sodium methylparaben?
Sodium methylparaben is a white crystalline powder commonly used as a preservative in the food industry. It's a sodium salt of methylparaben, which belongs to the family of parabens - esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. Sodium methylparaben has excellent antimicrobial properties and helps prevent bacterial growth in food products, extending their shelf life. It's often added to acidic foods, such as soft drinks, baked goods, sauces, and dressings. Despite concerns about its safety, sodium methylparaben is approved by regulatory bodies and used in many food products worldwide.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
