So, what is tylosin?
Tylosin is a type of macrolide antibiotic commonly used in veterinary medicine to treat bacterial infections in livestock, particularly swine and poultry. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacteria, ultimately leading to their death. While it is not approved for use in humans, it has been occasionally prescribed as an off-label treatment for certain conditions. Tylosin can also be used as a feed additive to promote growth and improve feed efficiency in animals. However, its usage has raised concerns about the development of antibiotic resistance in both animals and humans consuming the treated products.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
