So, what is azodicarbonamide?
Azodicarbonamide is a chemical compound commonly used as a food additive, specifically as a flour bleaching agent and dough conditioner. It is a yellow or orange crystalline powder that is odorless and tasteless. Although it has been approved by the FDA for use in food products, it has also been associated with negative health effects, such as respiratory issues and asthma, in some individuals. Azodicarbonamide has also been banned in several countries due to its potential health risks. Despite its controversial nature, it remains a popular ingredient in many processed foods.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
