It is produced through chemical synthesis, combining silicon derived from natural silica minerals, such as quartz or sand, with synthetic or petroleum-derived alkyl compounds. This ingredient is most commonly found in cosmetics and personal care formulations, including foundations, moisturizers, sunscreens, and hair serums, where it functions as a lightweight spreading agent, emollient, and texture enhancer.
