So, what is carob bean gum e410?
Carob bean gum E410, commonly known as locust bean gum, is a natural food additive used primarily as a thickener, gelling agent, and stabilizer. It is extracted from the seeds of the carob tree, Ceratonia siliqua, which is native to the Mediterranean region. To produce the gum, the outer husks of the seeds are removed through mechanical or thermal treatment, the germ is separated, and the remaining endosperm is milled into a fine, water-soluble powder.
Food manufacturers frequently include this additive in dairy alternatives, ice creams, sauces, salad dressings, pie fillings, and processed bakery items to improve texture and retain moisture. It is also used to stabilize emulsions and increase viscosity without altering the flavor profile of the finished product.
carob bean gum E410 is vegan.. It is derived entirely from plant matter, specifically the seeds of the carob pod, and does not involve animal sources or animal byproducts at any stage of manufacturing. Because it is purely botanical in origin, it complies fully with plant-based dietary requirements.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
