So, what is halloumi?
Halloumi is a semi-hard, unripened cheese with a distinctive salty taste and a slightly rubbery texture. Originating from the island of Cyprus, it is traditionally made from a combination of sheep and goat milk. Halloumi can be enjoyed either raw or cooked, and is particularly known for its ability to hold its shape when grilled or fried. Its versatility in the kitchen has made it a popular ingredient in salads, sandwiches, and vegetarian dishes. As a great source of protein and calcium, halloumi cheese is a delicious and healthy addition to any meal.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
