So, what is lemon grass?

Lemongrass is a herbaceous plant native to tropical regions of Asia, with a distinct lemon-like aroma and flavor. It is often used in Southeast Asian cuisines to add a fresh, citrusy note to dishes, especially in soups, curries, and stir-fries. The long, slender blades of lemongrass are tough and fibrous, so they are typically bruised or minced before being added to recipes. Besides its culinary uses, lemongrass is also known for its medicinal properties, as it contains compounds that have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-microbial effects. It is often used in herbal teas and aromatherapy products.
