So, what is lycopene?

Lycopene is a bright red carotenoid pigment that occurs naturally in various fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes, watermelon, guava, and papaya. It is a powerful antioxidant with potential health benefits, including reducing the risk of some types of cancer, protecting against cardiovascular disease, and supporting skin health. Lycopene's antioxidant properties are attributed to its ability to neutralize free radicals in the body, which can cause cellular damage and contribute to chronic disease. This nutrient is also important for eye health and may help prevent age-related macular degeneration.

How to quickly find the source of ingredients like lycopene?

We've built a database of 49359 ingredients (and growing), classified as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "maybe vegan".

We use it in our vegan ingredients scanner, which is the best way to avoid non-vegan ingredients - you take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
