So, what is selenite?
Selenite, also known as selenium dioxide, is a mineral that is naturally found in soil, water, and some foods. It is a colorless and odorless compound that is used as a food ingredient in trace amounts. Selenite is a source of the essential micronutrient selenium, which is important for many bodily functions, including immune system support and thyroid function. It also acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells from damage caused by free radicals. Selenite is commonly added to dietary supplements and fortified foods, such as bread and cereal, to ensure adequate intake of selenium. However, excessive consumption of selenite can be toxic, so it is important to use it in moderation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
