So, what is starfruit?
Starfruit, also known as carambola, is a tropical fruit that's shaped like a five-pointed star when sliced. It has a waxy, golden-yellow skin and a greenish-yellow pulp that's crunchy, juicy, and slightly tart. Starfruit is rich in vitamins C and A, fiber, and antioxidants, making it a great addition to any diet. It can be eaten raw or used in salads, smoothies, jams, and even as a garnish for cocktails. However, caution should be exercised when consuming starfruit, as it contains oxalic acid and may be harmful to individuals with kidney disease.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
