So, what is melassa?
Molasses, also known as "melassa" in some cultures, is a thick, syrupy byproduct of the sugar refining process. Darker and less sweet than regular table sugar, it is rich in vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium, and potassium. The deep, complex flavor of molasses is often used in baking and cooking to add depth to dishes like gingerbread, baked beans, and barbecue sauce. It can also be used as a natural sweetener and is a popular ingredient in vegan and vegetarian recipes. Additionally, molasses is believed to have health benefits such as promoting healthy digestion and reducing inflammation.
We've built a vegan ingredients scanner that classifies food ingredients as "vegan", "non-vegan", or "potentially vegan".
It allows you to avoid non-vegan ingredients - just take a picture of a product's ingredient list, and the app tells you if the product is vegan or not.
